JOB SUMMARY


Assign and monitor daily work to achieve departmental goals for receiving, picking and shipping turn around times and on time delivery. Must maintain finance specified goals for inventory accuracy. Responsible for writing and updating all departmental work instructions and providing on the job training. Responsible for warehouse safety policy enforcement. Responsible for the highest level of customer service while maintaining a relationship with the staff that encourages teamwork and high morale. This is a working supervisor position and will be responsible for 2 to 5 employees. Managing overtime is a major responsibility as is controlling the expense of departmental supplies. The position will report directly to department Management who monitors daily operations and gives general direction and specific goals.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


Daily Operational Maintenance
Oversee receiving, picking and shipping activities.
Monitors daily sales orders and receiving reports to prioritize work
Interfaces with vendors that support the warehouse including the packaging material supplier, material handling equipment supplier and barcode software (in conjunction with IT).

Supervisory
Takes primary responsibility for interdepartmental communication.
Ensure that all material is processed per Panasonic Quality Control instructions.
Responsible for warehouse layout and cleanliness. Maintains a 5S organization.
Responsible for staff development and training.
Maintains departmental training records and focuses on complete cross-training of the staff.
Writes warehouse performance appraisals / improvement plans and discusses with departmental Management.
Ensures all departmental functions are covered by work instructions and that these work instructions reflect the actual jobs being accomplished.
Monitors departmental expenses under direction of the departmental Director. The supervisor must pre-approve all departmental over time.

Internal/External Audits and Organizational Support
Responsible for supporting internal and external audits of departmental processes and procedures.
Participates in the ISO9000 and ISO14000 quality processes.
Works closely with cycle count coordinator to establish root cause and corrective action for any picking, shipping or receiving errors.
Teaming with the departmental Director and the IT department responsible for investigating the cost effectiveness and selection of new technologies to reduce cost and improve productivity.



KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS


Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to consider the needs of internal and external customers and focus on the highest level of customer service.
Communication style that fosters teamwork with all departments at Panasonic. This position will also communicate frequently with any suppliers. Understands how to deliver Written and verbal communication positively and tactfully in the most stressful of situations.
Ability to communicate with subordinates in a supportive and respectful fashion that foster an atmosphere of empowerment and responsibility.
Ability to take responsibility for solving process flow problems based on specific goals or incidents. The position should be the first to recognize and take corrective action regarding employee performance issues.
Possess an excellent understanding of the companys inventory control computer system and able to work out problems that arise due to incorrect transactions.
Experience with a fast paced production environment.
Highly organized, self starter who can run with general instructions and goals.
Demonstrated ability as a analytical and logical problem solver that can work problem across departmental lines.
Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


High School graduate.
Some college or APICS certification a plus.
3 years warehouse experience as a lead or supervisor.
Experience with a computerized warehouse system highly desirable (i.e. Oracle and barcode experience a plus).
Experience in the airline industry a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS


Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and be able to perform repetitive material handling tasks.
Ability to lift 50lbs and be proficient with material handling equipment.
This position will spend 50% to 60% of the time performing physical work and 40% to 50% supervising and communicating with other internal and external contacts.
