Network/Security Operations Analyst at Seattle

Job Description

Randstad Technologies is seeking qualified candidates for a Network/Security Operations Analyst contract opportunity in Seattle.

this role will start off at a 30-day temporary assignment focusing on providing Level 1 (L1) and Level 2(L2) support for existing internet network environment. The role has a strong possibility for extension for an additional 30-60 days past initial term.

Business Requirements:

All candidates need to have firewall experience to provide operational support of a highly critical internet commerce environment. Experience with Checkpoint/Crossbeam technology is highly preferred.

Administrative Job Assignments:

Create, update and maintain operational runbooks and other artifacts.

Comfortable working in a NOC or operations center environment.

Facilitate knowledge transfer to service and network operations personnel.

Documents observed anomalies and brings such findings to the attention of network engineers.

Update all service request tickets and outage documentation with a reasonable degree of detail.

Apply all work instructions as related to the use of the problem management system (PMS) all work conducted on assigned operational tasks must be detailed within the PMS.

Technical Job Assignments:

Provide operational support (24x7) for network environment there will be a high degree of emphasis on checkpoint firewall environment.

Assist staff and Network Engineers with operational work assignments and implementation of new controls, monitors, adjustment of thresholds and other operational support assignment consistent with the needs of the business.

Assist staff and Network Engineers with the implementation of new technologies or updates to existing infrastructure.

Assist staff and Network Engineers with release management activities including patching, firmware updates and other related activities.

Network analysis may be asked to take actions such as: shutting down ports, blocking traffic, implementing and troubleshooting firewall rules, failing over firewalls, etc.

Participate in the implementation of new network monitors, scripts and controls.

Skills Requirements:

• Strong IP networking fundamentals and experience in the application of IP protocols.
• Experience with firewall technology Checkpoint highly preferred.
• Experience zoning firewall environments with an ability to work with VAP groups.
• Knowledge of and experience with major routing protocols like BGP and OSPF
• Experience with major routing/switching, firewall and load balancing technologies
• Experienced network analysis fundamentals
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Documentation experience (creation and maintenance). Experience with Work and Visio, creating and maintaining SOPs, maintenance plans, network diagrams, etc.
• Knowledge and experience with ITIL concepts, Incident, Problem and Change Management.
• Good communications skills (both written and verbal)
