Job Description

U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group was founded in 1995 and is a leading national provider of occupational medicine and urgent care services. Operating 115 medical centers in 13 states with over 2,400 employees, including approximately 350 physicians, U.S. HealthWorks serves over 10,000 patients each day. We help employers control the cost of work-related injuries through quality medical care and effective management of claims and lost work time.

Provides nursing care services to clients. Also acts as a resource to center staff and provides oversight on projects. This a temporary 4-5 month assignment for the flu season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver onsite flu vaccinations to companies on their premises.
  • Records patients vital signs.
  • Dresses wounds.
  • Applies compresses, ice or heat.
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
  • Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients charts.
  • Administers pulmonary function tests, audiograms, visual acuity tests, phlebotomy, respirator fit testing, strength tests, and electrocardiograms, drug screen collections and wound care.
  • Assists MD with treadmills.
  • Administers Morgan Lens - fluorescein.
  • Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from clients for testing and performs Multisite test.
  • Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
  • Cleans rooms and answers client calls.
  • Inventories and requisitions supplies.
  • Maintains accurate, clear up-to-date records and assures confidentiality.
  • May administer X-Rays as directed by physician if trained.

  • Excellent people skills. Ability to motivate, cooperate with and work effectively with others.
  • Knowledge of the organizations policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of health care administration, center philosophy and policies and operating procedures.
  • Skill in exercising initiative and judgment.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in writing and verbally.

EDUCATION

Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in Occupational Health is preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate; Audiometric Certification, Spirometry-NIOSH Course Certification; Breath Alcohol Technician Certification.
