Manager, Applications (Rev Cycle) at Tacoma

Job Description

Job Summary:
  • Ensures successful operation of applications (functional, operational and procedural) supported by ITS including data quality, education and end-user support.
  • Manages project resources and provides support on application related projects.
Essential Duties:
  • Supports the Applications Director in identifying current and future information needs and opportunities.
  • Provides management oversight for application teams in direct and/or virtual environment.
  • Supports the development of strategic and tactical plans and business process re-engineering for the Applications group
  • Provides operational guidance to influence adherence to the IT organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensures the integrity of electronic data, achieved by managing thorough analysis of vendors and their products, and creating and adhering to process methodologies, policies and procedures for software support and maintenance.
  • Ensures staff provides effective support.
  • Reviews, analyzes and provides feedback on product requirements and architectural designs.
  • Manages the maintenance of application systems and assures the effective integration and utilization of installed capability.
  • Assists in the development of budgets and assures adherence to approved budgets.
  • Provides input on SLA targets and ensures SLA targets are achieved for applications
  • Provides management to staff and assistance in hiring decisions, performance management, coaching and career development.
  • Provides mentoring to staff as a means to develop job satisfaction and coordinates cross training opportunities with other functional support groups.
  • Will require some on-call coverage responsibilities
  • Additional tasks/responsibilities as defined.

Job Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Business Administration or
  • Healthcare required or may substitute an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • 3-4 years supervisory experience in IT environment required.
  • 7 years of total IT/application experience required.
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Organizational skills to facilitate a productive working environment.
  • Strong personnel management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the implementation of long-range IT plans and strategies.
  • Knowledge of industry standard practices in application support function.
  • Proven organizational skills and time management.
  • Experience in ITIL environments preferred.
  • Specific experience with systems management/support required.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and/or skills in the following areas:
    • Knowledge of the application of computer technology within healthcare.
    • Technical knowledge with Product/Vendor Analysis, software support and training programs.
    • Functional accounting, budgeting and variance accounting.
    • Knowledge of system and application development.
    • Experience with report development tools.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintains supervisory relationships with the staff in coordinating daily operations for the team.
  • Full management responsibilities for staff, to include hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, counseling and career development.
  • Manages application vendor relationships.
