Job Description

Responsibilities: Our client is seeking an IT Manager - Data Center Operations for their Tacoma, Washington (WA) location.General Purpose of the Job:The Manager of Data Center Operations will be responsible for the overall enterprise-wide effectiveness and efficiency of data center technology systems and in ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained. This IT Leader drives migration to new technologies, evaluates processing performance relating to system and application utilization and reliability, and forecasts financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives. The Manager oversees and coordinates data center operations, business continuance and restoration plans that isolate problems and implement pre-planned alternative routes or systems to restore service.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive:
  • Provides strategic direction, coaches and mentors more junior management staff - Accountable for IT functional/departmental results
  • Function as a peer within IT Manager team
  • Implement Data Center solutions using Best Demonstrated Practices
  • Interface with large, dispersed Operational teams, including Oracle and SQL DBAs, Windows and Unix System Administrators
  • Participate in large projects implementing complex technology solutions like Server virtualization, SAN deployment, SQL Server consolidation
  • Stewardship of large departmental budget

Job Requirements

IT Manager Qualifications (required unless noted otherwise):
  • Ability to lead and mentor teams of 5+ teammates with a passion for developing talent and motivating teams to achieve the highest levels of potential
  • This Manager must have experience in data center operations and management functions and will have overall responsibility for department decisions and management
  • Ability to interact with and present project status to senior level IT and Business Executives
  • Experience running large, diverse operational environments
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
