SW Test Engineer at Vancouver

Job Description

Responsibilities: Functions of the Software Test Engineer:Review user stories and work with scrum teams to raise risk areas and ensure documentation and acceptance criteria are complete

• Perform exploratory testing on risk areas and new functionality
• Design and execute thorough feature based end-to-end test plans and test cases
• Perform additional analysis and gather log files on existing issues
• Identify, characterize, reproduce, and log defects
• Validate fixes and infrastructure changes
• Identify and facilitate strategies for increasing test efficiency and comprehensive coverage
• Work closely with on-shore and off-shore teams to ensure coverage within the allocated timeframe
• Manage the set-up; configuration; and maintenance of a of pre-release and released printer products including firmware installation and updates

Job Requirements

Specific Qualifications (required unless noted otherwise):

• A 4 year CS Degree is preferred (testing emphasis is a plus)
• 4+ years of software quality assurance in a hands-on test role
• 2+ years in Web Application / Web Services Quality Assurance
• 2+ years of Test Lead / Mentoring experience
• Experience working with Agile Scrum / Kanban Teams
• Experience reviewing and enhancing user stories (preferably using Rally or JIRA)
• Experience in test planning, development, and maintenance (preferably using Quality Center or JIRA)
• Experience with Printer Firmware is a plus
• Experience with different defect tracking tools (preferably using Quality Center or JIRA)
• Experience working with off-shore test teams
• Be eager to perform hands-on testing
• Be eager to take on multiple technical tasks simultaneously; and efficiently see each through to completion
• Be a problem solver that takes initiative; works well independently; and knows when to ask questions and make use of resources to solve problems with minimal supervision
• Be highly detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
