Underwriting Assistant - Government Customer Support at Bellevue

Job Summary:

Flagstar is seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as Customer Support Underwriting Assistants. A successful individual hired in this roleprovides support and assistance to underwriting staff. The underwriting assistant will be responsible for providing customer support or data entry within the underwriting department using moderate loan processing/origination experience.

(Flagstar does not offer remote underwriting positions)

Responsibilities:

• Assists customer on the phone.
• Assists underwriters.
• Clears faxes and underwriters conditions.
• Collects data and organizes reports.
• Conducts transfers in a web based application (LP/DU).
• Handles phone calls with various internal and external customers.
• Monitors internal reports.
• Performs other tasks assigned by higher level underwriters.
• Relies upon underwriters and the manager for mentoring and guidance.
• Tracks progress and reports interim results to management.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Flagstars internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• A minimum of 1 -3 years processing/clearing conditions experience required.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines and products required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interface work autonomously and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Competently utilize computer software MS Word, MS Excel and email are an integral part of day to day activity.
• Ability to work regularly scheduled hours, 8:30 - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday, some weekend or evening hours may be required upon business need.
