The Neonatal ICU Registered Nurse works in either a Level I, II or III Nursery. Neonatal refers to the first 28 days of life, patients range from healthy newborns to those requiring specialized critical care. This NICU travel nurse job includes intermediate care for babies who are in critical condition and require specialized nursing care. The ideal travel nursing NICU candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of criteria for infants admitted to the NICU, regarding low birth weight, pre-term delivery and clinical experience caring for multiples, as twins, and triplets are often admitted to the NICU. The RN will address neonatal conditions that include heart problems, infections, or birth defects, and require an excellent grasp of current advanced technology and equipment used in neonatal medicine.
