Job Summary


This position contributes to Starbucks success in the following ways:

The individual will be a member of the Windows Server Systems Engineering team and support the design of large scale mission-critical solutions, system automation, system management/monitoring, technical standards, security standards and configuration management.

The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and gather business requirements for large scale projects

The individual will also be a point of escalation for day-to-day support of mission-critical systems on our global Windows Server fleet. This is a rotation based escalation support commitment.

This role is critical for the deployment of SCCM 2012 in support of our Global Infrastructure as a Server (IaaS) deployment.


The individual will work with infrastructure leaders on strategic directions and initiatives for the Windows Server Systems Engineering team. In addition the individual will participate in scheduled vendor meetings to review and discuss technical issues, assess and document vendors recommended changes, SLAs, process and support improvement.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Position involves serving as a Lead Systems Engineer for the Windows Server Systems Engineering team.

Proposes and implements medium to large scale system deployment specifically around Windows Server clustering.

Collaborates with VMWare/ESX team for template updates and new HW configuration standards.

Analyzes, installs, modifies, lifeycle manages and supports Windows Server operating systems.

Conducts highly complex systems automation/scripting and systems support activities, including system integration and monitoring.

Plays a key role in the deployment of SCCM 2012 for automated imaging, lifecycle management and patching.

Creates and maintains documentation of systems processes and procedures.

Resolves complex user requests referred by junior administrators.

Work with the Enterprise Security team to ensure system configurations are in compliance with security policies and controls standards.

Works with customers to identify business requirements and suggests service improvements and/or new technology directions.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Required proficiency in system automation, Window Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, SCCM 2007 and SCCM 2012.

Experience with deploying Windows Server in VMWare/ESX environments and a full understanding of requirements/provisioning practices.

Proven skills deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server through 2008 R2 including advanced item such as clustering.

In depth knowledge of server hardware, networking, enterprise storage, and other components that support a virtual infrastructure.

Experience deploying and maintaining virtual infrastructure monitoring solutions, including storage and host health monitoring, and capacity management.

Proficiency in setting strategy on improvements to automation through the implementation of tools like SCCM (e.g. IaaS).

Summary of Experience

Project management and methodology(2 years).

Deep Windows Server experience in engineering and operations (6 years).

Experience with build out of data center server infrastructure (chassis, blades and stand-alone servers).

Understanding of server virtualization technologies, specifically ESX.

Experience with Windows Server lifecycle management (e.g. patching, imaging).

Deep experience in troubleshooting and resolving critical production issues on Windows Server.

Analyzing, diagnosing and proposing solutions to infrastructure and/or system problems (6 years).

Experience with systems engineering, design, or systems administration (6 years).

Providing technical oversight and guidance on technical projects (6 years).

Experience using diagnostic, monitoring, problem and change management tools (6 years).

Experience working within a project management framework (6 years).

Experience working in an ITIL driven IT practice (6 years).
