Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position manages, maintains, and troubleshoots Windows based systems in a complex shipboard environment. The team provides 24x7 support of on-board Windows servers and associated systems to ensure smooth operations for the Holland America fleet. The Windows Systems Administrator will help design, install, configure and troubleshoot VMware and Windows based systems to provide highly available business applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Implement, support, patch, and maintain remote VMware ESX systems, running mission critical applications in a 24x7 environment.

Implement, support and manage Microsoft-based servers (Windows 2000/2003 operating systems and enterprise class hardware).

Support and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for VMware and standalone servers using SAN and NAS technologies

Assists with maintenance and formulation of standards, documentation, and procedures.

Maintains effective relationships with shoreside and shipboard personnel

Consults and analyzes computer systems requirements and conducts design, testing and implementation of technical solutions to fulfill determined requirements.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience
• MCSE 200x Certification
• Minimum of 5 years experience with Microsoft networking technologies, including Windows 2003 and Windows 2000 and Exchange 2003
• VMware ESX experience required
• Experience with HP Proliant hardware is required
