Requisition ID 14789BRTitle Manager - Animal and Human ResearchJob Category Research & DevelopmentJob Description PURPOSE:The T1D R&D Center in Seattle will be engaged in accelerating the path of antigen-specific and biological therapies for autoimmune diabetes to the clinic. The goal and novel and exciting concept to accomplish this is by defining various biomarkers (cellular, proteomics, immunomics) in appropriate murine models via their correlation or prediction of therapeutic success. These markers will also be identified in various groups of patients with type 1 diabetes (or high risk) and proof-of-concept small trials will be conducted for validation prior to and after therapy.RELATIONSHIPS:Reports to the Vice President of T1D Research Center.Internal relationships include working with research employees, project managers, as well as colleagues in Diabetes Research in Denmark, Novo Nordisk Inc. and Novo Nordisk A/S. This position also has direct reports. External relationships include those with business partners, industry associations, legislative bodies, and focus patient representative groups.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Overall responsibility for various functions pertaining to animal studies and biomarker analysis. cellular immunology in the T1D center in Seattle. Responsible for comparative analysis of biomarker development in mice and early proof-of-concept human trials. Oversees the team and helps design all experimental studies testing novel antigen-specific and systemic immune modulators in animal models. Focuses on the detection and development of new biomarkers in blood of treated mice, which will then be validated in initial POC and safety human trials. Oversees the cellular immunology analysis of biomarkers in human blood and PBMCs. Oversee development of new therapeutics and respective small POC trials. Responsible together with the VP for all emerging data, biomarker development and involved in discussion for trial design. Ensure that cellular immunology laboratory is operational including all FACS, imaging and ELISPOT and other T cell assay and cytokine assessment tests. Responsible for data tracking and database. creation/maintenance including statistical analysis. Responsible for creation of a database for human T cell assays. Approximately 10-15% overnight travel.KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PhD followed by relevant US or international experience in cellular immunology Min. 2 years of hands-on cellular immunology research Group leadership ability, outstanding knowledge of animal experimentation and operations Strong capability to work in a global environment across multiple continents and cultures Very strong verbal and written communication skillsDepartment NN DIABETES CENTER - SEATTLE (1)Position Location US - Seattle, WACity SeattleState/Provinces US - WADegree Required Doctorate Degree RequiredPercent Travel 10 - 20%
