This position serves as an assistant to the Chief Test Engineer Non-Nuclear for administrative and technical control of the non-nuclear test and work control programs. As an Engineering Technician in this position, you will provide direct technical oversight of non-nuclear testing, control of system conditions, and the transfer of ships systems operation and work controls during overhauls.

Major duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:
* Serving as a Lead Test Engineer or assistant Chief Test Engineer.
* Approving, monitoring, and providing technical oversight during test evolutions and insuring procedural compliance is followed.
* Advising and assisting Zone Managers, Test Directors, and Department personnel in determining optimum production test sequences.
* Initiating corrective action for test failures and resolving conflicting test problems.

Specialized experience may include the following:
- * Troubleshooting shipboard electronic or mechanical systems
- * Modifying designs of shipboard electric or electronic systems
- * Evaluating adequacy of shipboard equipment for repair
- * Developing procedural instructions to repair shipboard electric, electronic or mechanical systems

REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires long hours standing/working shipboard, walking, bending, climbing vertical ladders, entering physically restrictive areas on a recurring basis.
Work requires extended work hours, overtime, weekend work, sea trials, and guarantee work.
Position requires frequent work in fumes, noise, heat, ionizing radiation, and chemicals. These hazards are reduced through the use of proper procedures and personal protection equipment.
Selectee must be physically qualified to work in radiation areas.
Occasional travel from 1 - 5 days may be required.
