This position is located in the Range Operations Branch of the Pacific Northwest Range Management & Operations Support Division, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport, WA. You will serve as an Electronics Technician for the Target and Sound Group providing technical expertise in test and evaluation of Undersea weapon systems and related devices.

As an Electronics Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Providing technical and engineering services for the repair, maintenance, and modernization of ships Electronic Warfare systems and subsystems.
Resolving technical problems consisting of multiple engineering disciplines.
Conducting studies, analysis and consider different courses of action, technique or procedure.
Providing Test and Evaluation in developing, planning, assembling data, analyzing and evaluating electronic systems.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-08) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical and engineering services for the repair, maintenance, or modernization of Electronic Undersea Warfare systems and subsystems. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of qualifying experience may include:
Developing work specifications.
Evaluating design or operational problems.
Performing diagnostic techniques to repair, maintain, or calibrate systems or equipment.
FOR THE GS-0856-10:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating substantial knowledge of electronic warfare systems or equipment. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of qualifying experience may include:
Modifying portions of electronic systems design modifications.
Identifying and correcting electronic systems or equipment deficiencies.
Planning technical work projects.
Evaluating design or operational problems.
Developing or proposing procedural instructions.
Performing diagnostic techniques to repair, maintain, or test systems or equipment.
FOR THE GS-0856-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-10) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing technical and engineering services for the test and evaluation of Electronic Warfare systems and subsystems. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of qualifying experience may include:
Evaluating designs or operational problems.
Developing or modifying technical work documents.
Reviewing plans for upgrades and modifications to determine compliance with project specifications.
Identifying test requirements to ensuring compliance with quality standards; providing technical advice on strategic planning for engineering projects.
Identifying electronic or equipment performance problems and recommend corrective action.

REQUIREMENTS:
Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
A SECRET security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.
Work is performed occasionally in office/shop settings, but is primarily sea duty (onboard range craft and ships at sea) often under adverse weather conditions.
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions and climbing.
Position may require frequent travel (using government acceptable modes of transportation, i.e., flying commercial aircraft, operating a motor vehicle, onboard ships at sea, onboard submerged submarines, ride range craft and float planes.
Selectee may be required to obtain a Government Motor Vehicle Operators permit for vehicles up to 5 tons and for trucks up to 6000 pounds.
This position requires shift work and may include evening and weekend work.
Selectee must obtain and maintain current Explosives Safety certifications.
