Job Description
Summary:
The Software Test Engineer II (STE II) validates and verifies that the software solution meets the product requirements and is fit for use. The STE II contributes to the test approach and scope, writing and executing test cases, recording and managing defects, and communicating issues, risks and status on a timely basis. The STE II is a well versed professional who contributes to the quality assessment of Premera systems utilizing industry best practices and domain knowledge.
Responsibilities:
1. Consults with the customer to understand customer needs and analyzes, reviews and validates project requirements and technical specifications, contributes to test plan and test estimates, creates and executes test cases utilizing standard test methods and tools.
2. Collaborates with developers and analysts to address project requirements, deliverables and any potential road blocks.
3. Participates in project discovery meetings to understand testing impacts.
4. Executes tests including, but not limited to, Functional, Regression, System and Integration Testing, etc. Verifies and validates data and code changes per specifications, document anomalies and resolve issues.
5. Records, tracks and regresses defects using standard test tools and methods.
6. Utilizes a variety of database and SQL tools to gather and analyze datasets for test case design, planning and execution.
7. Assists in the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and replication of product defects.
8. Translates complex technical requirements and specifications into robust test cases.
9. Advocates for quality throughout the project life cycle.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
2. 3- 5 years in Quality Assurance/Software Testing or equivalent work experience in a related technical field
3. Demonstrated experience successfully working with internal business partners and delivering high quality artifacts
4. Understanding of Object Oriented programming fundamentals
5. Familiarity with Relational Database concepts and SQL
6. Knowledge of SDLC, Software Testing Processes, and ability to apply software testing methods and techniques to a variety of technologies
7. Excellent critical thinking (inductive, deductive and quantitative reasoning) and problem solving skills
8. Ability to understand technical language and concepts
9. Proven ability to assess quality and system risks and make recommendations based on that assessment
10. Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing. Interact successfully within and outside of department on multiple levels. Ability to influence in area of expertise.
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
1. Knowledge of the Health Insurance Business Domain
2. Knowledge of Testing Tools, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence Tools
3. Knowledge of Trizetto applications (Facets, NetworX CCA)
4. Knowledge of X12, 83x and 27x data sets/files
4. Knowledge of Integrated Health Insurance Management system.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a normal office environment with ambient temperatures and involving occasional reaching, stretching, bending and moving about.
