Position Overview

The Marketing Program Manager role at WatchGuard reports to the Director Marcom, Press and Analyst Relations and is an individual contributor who will focus on developing and delivering breakthrough marketing strategy and execution. This person needs to be able to manage, execute, and measure multiple integrated marketing activities across a variety of marketing communications vehicles. He/she needs to be a great story teller - success will be measured in part by how well this person enables everyone, from the highest executives at the company to the front line field sellers, to be able to tell the story. An ability to create powerful and compelling content in various forms - from digital to keynote presentations to field readiness materials - is key. This person needs to possess excellent written and oral communications skills, have a strong command of marketing fundamentals (branding, positioning & messaging, market research), and be able to quickly ramp to become a subject matter expert in a particular area. He/she needs to have a strong desire to work collaboratively, and be able to effectively coalesce multiple and potentially conflicting views from key stakeholders across multiple groups. He/she must desire to work in a role where he/she is a member of multiple virtual teams, sometimes leading and often acting as a contributor. In some cases, the most effective approach will involve working to get multiple stakeholders across the company to adopt a single direction or infuse a new message into their existing or ongoing marketing campaigns, rather than execute a new stand-alone marketing effort.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Key Objectives

Partner with the Director Marcom, Press and Analyst Relations and the Director of Global Channel and Field Marketing, as well as other internal stakeholders, to develop and manage integrated marketing communications programs and activities based on business objectives. Responsibility will span project management of the marketing campaigns from strategy to execution and measurement, including:

  • Conduct market research as required to inform campaign strategy and messaging, and manage perception tracking studies used to measure progress
  • Assist with the input and approval process of marketing plans/strategies/tactics and campaign execution across key stakeholders. Manage work-back schedules, budget, etc.
  • Create campaign content and materials, such as messaging frameworks, keynote and other customer-facing presentations, field readiness materials, etc.
  • Create campaign communications program and dashboard; manage internal updates on activities and progress. Track and report effectiveness/results of marketing campaigns, and recommendations for optimization




Education, Knowledge, Skills, Certifications/ Licenses, Competencies

  • Bachelors degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA a plus
  • 7+ years of related experience in marketing and marketing communications
  • Must possess solid command of multiple marketing communications disciplines (i.e., marketing research, branding, digital/web, RM, events, advertising, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Capable of writing/creating compelling communication and content in various forms (i.e., messaging frameworks, customer-facing presentations, field playbooks, web copy, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing and executing integrated marketing communications campaigns aligned against business goals and metrics
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with a diverse range of cross-group partners and stakeholders
  • Experience working with and managing marketing communications agencies
  • Ability to shape and harness qualitative and quantitative research data to inform decision-making
  • Passion for technology and ability to quickly learn new subject matter areas
