POSITION:Senior Structural Engineer Tetra Techs Bellevue office is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a Senior Structural Engineer in our Navigation/Flood Control/Hydropower (NFH) group.
Our NFH group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to work independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Group Leader. He/she may oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical advisor on a specialized design. Reviews progress, evaluates methodology and results, and recommends major changes in procedures. Develops plans and designs for heavy civil structural projects such as piers, bulkheads, floodwalls, locks, dams, bridges or related civil structures following established engineering standards and state or federal policy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, lead project elements/features and be prepared to develop scopes of work, budgets and staffing for those features. 2. Write scope of work for structural design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client. 3. Design and analysis of civil works structures of reinforced concrete, prestressed/precast concrete, steel and timber. 4. Establish, monitor, and coordinate the technical analysis and design approaches. 5. Preparation of contract drawings and specifications, feasibility studies. 6. Coordinate and oversee the processing and review of contractor submittals. 7. Occasional field inspection. 8. Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues. 9. Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering. 10. Knowledge of applicable codes. Work with municipalities and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to codes is required. 11. Assign and review work of project design team. Check progress of work and alert Project Manager to change of scope or additional services. 12. Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionals. Proficient written and oral communications skills. 13. Prepare or review budgets based on experience and scope of project. 14. Promote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards. 15. Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for design questions.

Job Requirements

The qualified candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, committed to time schedules and deadlines; ability to work independently and within a team environment; be self-motivated. BS in Civil Engineering; MS in Structural Engineering desired. A minimum of ten years relevant structural design experience; Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills; Familiarity with relevant structural engineering codes and industry standards; Superior technical understanding and design abilities; Experience leading a team of engineers; Specific areas of expertise desired are in the design ofnavigation locks, dams, hydropower facilities,water retaining structures, pump stations, fish passage facilities, diversion structures or flood walls; Working knowledge of computer modeling techniques using SAP2000, GTSTRUDL, LPILE, PCACOL ( or similar software such as STAAD, ABACUS, ANSYS, or LUSAS).Familiarity with computer programs for structural analysis and design would be a requirement; P.E. required; S.E. desired Tetra Tech offers employees a comprehensive compensation package and the opportunity to work on large scale projects.
