POSITION: Mechanical Engineer – Assistant Department Manager Tetra Tech is seeking an Assistant Resource Manager to assist in managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the department and serve as a project manager on selected projects.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in various personnel functions including but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, salary recommendation and employee development. Plans and schedules day-to-day work for the department ensuring the proper and effective distribution of assignments and manpower, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties. Coordinates with project manager to determine scope, complexity, planning and scheduling requirements of projects. Assigns personnel to provide engineering and technical support in the group and other Tetra Tech projects. Determines personnel needs with most appropriate individual qualifications and prepares manpower and cost estimates of department as required. Ensures the quality, accuracy and completeness of departmental work as to engineering, design and drafting quality; compliance with established standards, procedures, codes and ordinances; adherence to design and project schedules; and provides adequate training, technical and administrative guidance, and day-to-day instruction to personnel with the group. Plan and design water resource projects such as hydropower projects, locks and dams; hydraulic structures such as gates and valves, hoists and cranes, and pump stations. Serve as technical reviewer, project manager or project engineer on complex projects. Ensure project schedules are met. Perform project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals and correspondence, tracking project costs and completing progress reports.

Job Requirements:
Registered professional engineer with a minimum of ten years’ experience. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Progressive ability, capacity and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation from others.
