Linux Application Engineer at Bellevue

Job Description

Responsibilities:

-  Engineers the support and maintenance of large-scale production and pre-production systems and supporting infrastructure, including the design and development of tools and scripts to assist with such maintenance

-  Automation expert engineering operations tasks with exceptional problem solving skills

-  Designs high-performance and highly available systems for resource-intensive applications and establishes key performance indicators by which to judge system performance, measure capacity, and plan for future growth

-  Work closely with product team counterparts on requirements, solution design, issue identification and resolution, problem solving and planning related to production issues and software issues

-  Assist product teams with regularly scheduled product builds and deployments

-  Develops and demonstrate detailed, proactive ownership for supported systems, including configurations, monitoring, documentation, and training material
-  Works closely with our 24x7x365 NOC in support of incident management to minimize the impact of outages and drive efficiencies into the troubleshooting process in order to mitigate future issues

Additional Job Info:

-  Installs and debugs new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms

-  Troubleshoots systems, applications, and networks to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems

-  Stay up to date with relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems

-  Trains peers and support staff as required
-  Provides occasional on-call support

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

3-5+ years of experience supporting ecommerce sites

Expertise with Windows server required

Proficient with Linux

Demonstrated capability with scripting- Powershell/Ruby/Perl/Python

Sound understanding of relational databases, PC architecture, and networking fundamentals

Understanding of monitoring concepts

Highly motivated

Experiences with virtualization platforms such as VMWare or Hyper-V

Familiarity with cloud computing & Agile concepts a plus

Experience with tools such as Chef, Jenkings, System Center Orchestrator preferred
