Checkpoint Consultant

Title - Check Point Consultant

Client - Nordstrom

Location - downtown Seattle

Duration - 6 months

Expenses - NONE, want local resource or someone willing to be in Seattle full time at their own expense.

Rate to FNS from vendors - $93.00 per hour

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Process firewall change requests
  • Assess validity and impact of request as it applies to customer security policy

  • Implement authorized changes

  • Resolve tickets

  • Document changes

  • Assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues as it relates to firewall change requests

  • Catching errors during staging process

• Handle planning/prioritization of change requests
  • Cover the ticket request email alias

  • Ensure that tickets are properly prioritized so that the dozen requests rolled out each night are most pertinent

    
    
    Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assess and Analyze firewall rulebase for cleanup and efficiency opportunities

  • Documentation and reporting around the following:
    • Firewall change requests and daily operations

    • Periodic firewall rulebase auditing

Technical must haves and other soft skills needed:

• Strong skillset in Checkpoint Provider-1

• Skilled in setting up rules for point-to-point connections

• High attention to detail

• Strong skillset for secure firewall policies

• Strong understanding of firewalls and TCP/IP

• A STRONG security mindset

• Must have a fair degree of soft skillscant be a nose down technical resource.

• Corporate culture is cube discussion oriented. Lots of ad hoc face-to-face meetings.
• Be able to sugarcoat telling internal customers "no", and do it with a smile.
• Want someone who can win over the security team. Able to demonstrate that they are part of the solution and bailing water out of the boat along with everyone else.

Certification must haves - CCSA (at minimum) or CCSE certification is a must

Work place environment - High pressure especially when going into hard freeze periods. Multiple business and app units to deal with, strong personalities, prefer organized individuals that can track work and meet milestones.

• (freeze periods vary based on in-store promotions. Focus shifts from rule changes to cleanup efforts during freezes)
