Research Psychologist at Tacoma

JOB SUMMARY:

About the Position: This position is located in the National Center for Telehealth and Technology (T2), Defense Centers of Excellence. T2 has primary responsibility (under the Defense Centers of Excellence) for designing, building, testing, and evaluating  available and emerging technologies for possible development in support of psychological health and traumatic brain injury recovery in the military community. As a Research Psychologist, you will serve as subject matter expert in an area of psychology that is highly relevant to the study of human factors as it relates to user centered design of technology health solutions. Responsible for originating, planning, coordinating and conducting broad programs of technology-based behavioral studies and interventions, including usability testing and user-centered design. Design programs of original research to substantially improve the usability of T2 products or the manner in which T2 implements user-centered design principles and processes.  Develop and/or contribute to the development of research objectives and testable hypotheses based on new theoretical and/or conceptual frameworks on behavioral health and traumatic brain injury health care research. Manage overall usability testing to include design, methodological development, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Conduct an organizational program of usability testing for behavioral health and traumatic brain injury health care.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

 

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  Specialized experience is defined as:

conducting research and formulating research plans and programs relating to technology applications for learning and/or behavioral intervention.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

 

  *  Knowledge of and Ability to Obtain Relevant Data from Research Formulation and Application

 *  Knowledge of and Ability to Analysis and Conduct Evaluations and Assessments

  *  Knowledge of and skill in Research Documentation

  *  Knowledge of and Ability to Conduct Usability Program Management Functions

 

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-13 grade (or equivalent).

 

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.


Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

 

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.  However, there is a basic education requirement for the Psychology Series.

 

Basic Education Requirement: You must  have satisfactory completed of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D., PsyD or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in psychology. (YOU MUST ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS FOR VERIFICATION)

 

Transcripts, official OR unofficial, MUST be uploaded or faxed with your application package if you are substituting education for experience or combining education and experience to meet the qualification requirements.

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
