Job Description
We have an immediate position open for a Diesel Shop Shift Supervisor at our Vancouver, WA location. This position is Monday-Friday with occasional OT on Saturdays. Ideal candidate will be a Journeyman Diesel Mechanic that has strong leadership skills and strong computer skills. In this position you will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and ensuring the safety of our team of Diesel Mechanics working on our garbage trucks. This person will be a hands-on leader spending approximately 70% of their time working on the shop floor assigning work, helping mechanics with diagnosis, training, etc. The other 30% of the time will be in the office ordering and inventorying parts, doing paperwork, etc.

Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to the corporate safety program.
- Ensure location is in compliance with all regulatory agencies and statutes.
- Responsible for the control of inventory and maintenance of equipment.
- Trains and assists Mechanics on methods for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
- Schedules or assigns work to Mechanics, PM Mechanics or other Maintenance Shop personnel.
- Coordinates and/or transports vehicles to outside service for repairs, as needed.
- Test vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.
- Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or driver for clarification of problems. Discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
- Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounts for applied times (work order times versus time card times).
- Provides oversight and responsible for organization of the yard and facilities.

- 5+ years performing maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel trucks
