Whatcom Community Detox provides a monitored setting for the safe withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. WCD promotes abstinence from alcohol and drugs through staff interactions, counseling and motivational interventions. Clients are referred to the most appropriate aftercare setting. This unique program allows clients to move seamlessly between detoxification services and mental health services, removing barriers and stigma. A large percentage of the people WCD service have some type of mental health issue, and this program allows them direct access to important services that they might not otherwise receive.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible to ensure the health and safety of clients in residence by monitoring vital signs and managing behavior. The Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible for providing physical care for the client. Further, the Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible for suggesting and recommending changes in program, policy and procedure. The Detox Treatment Specialist is responsible for providing high quality services under the least restrictive conditions feasible.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent

• One year acceptable experience in the human service field.

• Course work, experience, or training in human development, chemical dependency, group dynamics, residential treatment, or related disciplines desirable.
