Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to utilize their exceptional skills and talents performing the following duties:
- Specific technical responsibilities vary by project, however it is imperative that you have command of all mechanical engineering fundamentals and understand how they are applied to designing reliable, low-cost mechanisms
- Design injection-molded plastic parts, machined parts, and sheet metal parts in 3D CAD
- Discover creative, yet easily manufacturable solutions to difficult problems
- Design and analyze mechanical systems and mechanisms
- Create 2D drawings using correct GD&T standards, perform tolerance analyses, and effectively communicate with vendors
- Assemble parts that you designed to test how they fit together and then improve upon their function; prototyping and machine shop experience is a plus
- Ethical and honest in every part of the job
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science or Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year university
- 2-10 years of experience designing mechanisms, parts, and electro-mechanical systems
- Ability to communicate clearly, write detailed and thorough reports, and exceed clients expectations with your knowledge, hard work, and positive attitude
- Work effectively in a team setting and collaborate openly with other engineers
- Expert in CAD, especially SolidWorks and/or PTC Creo Direct Modeling
- Thorough understanding of GD&T and how it is applied to design and manufacturing
- Excellent organization and analytical skills combined with attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and plan effectively
- Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Bright (top of the class), enthusiastic, and ambitious
- Finite Element Analysis, Computation Flow Dynamics, or experience in other simulation packages a plus
- Design of Experiments (DOE) or knowledge of how to set up effective tests for equipment and electro-mechanical systems a plus
- Knowledge of stepper and dc motors, solenoids, gear and belt drive systems, bearings, sensors, and electronics a plus
