System Planning & Protection Professional or Principal Electrical Engineer Job #2013-2018 $81,049 - $136,161 (Position will be filled as a Professional Engineer or Principal Engineer depending on qualifications.) RESPONSIBILITIES: Assumes responsibilities for system protection work such as relay settings for transmission, substation, and feeders. Performs SME and/or Standard Lead related duties for NERC PRC standards. Responds to power quality issues such as flicker, voltage sags, and harmonics. Coordinates relays, fuses, reclosers, and breakers. Recommends relay applications. Investigates outage causes. Works with customers to ensure their needs are met and to prevent negative impacts on other customers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Professional Engineer BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years related engineering experience, with 2 of those years as a Lead or Project Engineer; and must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for this job level, "Professional Engineer". OR 10 years directly related engineering experience, 5 of which are performed at an electric utility; and, Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for this job level, "Engineer". Principal Engineer BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and 9 years of progressive applicable engineering experience, three of which are in a project engineer/lead engineer capacity in the electric engineering field. Preferred: Masters Degree in an engineering field; previous Protection Engineering experience. Requires WA State PE License and Drivers License.
