Licensed Practical Nurse - FMG - Franciscan Women's Health Associates-St. Joseph at Tacoma

Job Description

Job Summary: The LPN (licensed practical nurse) will perform care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills.The LPN uses patient care skills, teamwork, meets practice guidelines, and follows clinic specific policies and regulatory standards, under the supervision of the clinic physician.Essential Duties:
  • Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problems.
  • Performs care according to hospital/departmental policies & procedures.
  • Assists physician in administration of patient evaluation according to clinic policy.
  • Administers and documents medication, therapies, and treatment under supervision of physician according to clinic policy.
  • Assists with patient care as directed, by physician, according to clinic policy.
  • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to the facility Exposure Control Plan; anticipate Practitioners needs for medications, supplies and equipment and plan accordingly.
  • Ensure patient privacy and comfort during the exam; instruct patients in the collections of samples and other tests.
  • Manage patient flow ensuring enough time for patient and family education.
  • Administers therapies, and treatments as instructed by the physician, according to clinic policy.
  • Documents patients response to therapies, and treatments.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information and records.
  • Serves as a preceptor and role model for new employee and students according to clinic policy.

Job Requirements

Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program with appropriate licensure.
Experience:
  • Within three- (3) years, one- (1) year of practical nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred or two- (2) years of acute hospital nursing experience preferred.
License/Certifications:
  • Current State LPN license required.
  • CPR Certification required
