This position is located in the Business Planning Division of the Business and Strategic Planning Office, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF). You will provide staff assistance to one of the branch managers in the Business Planning Division, which involves workload forecasting, strategic and long-range planning, and corporate analysis.

As a Business Analyst, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing business analysis to management, orally and in writing.
  • Coordinating, compiling, analyzing and forecasting workload for all shipyard direct and indirect work.
  • Conducting short-range studies to determine possible resource requirements and resource mitigation strategies based on changing work practices, project management plans and workforce adjustments.
  • Developing and aligning strategic and long-range plans.
  • Coordinating, managing and analyzing business plans and information.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing business planning and analysis. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of qualifying experience include:

    ·  Interpreting and analyzing business information to forecast workload or develop improvements to business processes or procedures.

    ·  Developing plans for executing business programs.

    ·  Providing guidance in matters concerning alignment of long-range scheduling.

    ·  Evaluating the impact of changes to business plans.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.  All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

 

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

Position may require occasional travel.

The work is primarily sedentary with normal standing, walking and traveling to meetings and conferences away from the work site.

Position may require occasional visits to protected areas of the waterfront involving ordinary risks and discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.

Position may require working in an areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present, such as: fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc.

To ensure employee safety and health, the Shipyard maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations; these programs may include: engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personnel protective equipment and medical surveillance.

As part of the medical surveillance programs, may be required  to take medical examinations to assess his or her medical qualification for duty involving work with these agents.
