Engineered Lumber Products (ELP) Supply Manager at Federal Way

Job Description

The Engineered Lumber Products (ELP) Supply Manager is a key contributor and actively participates on the ELP Supply Chain Lead Team. AS with all roles in Weyerhaeuser safety is the number one priority. The Supply Manger will be responsible for taking a leadership role in driving the ELP organization to the goal of being injury free. The Supply Manager will also play a key role in developing and ultimately implementing product supply strategies that will cost effectively meet the changing needs of our customers. The goal of the Supply Manager is to balance the demand plan with the supply plan from ELP production facilities and outside ELP purchases. In addition the Supply Manager will ensure an executable plan is in place to supply our production facilities with veneer. A key activity in accomplishing these goals is to ensure the highest possible margin levels, while optimizing supply to meet the approved demand plan. Supporting this activity is product management to ensure the supply plan includes emphasis on strategic product supply that supports the ELP value proposition. The critical focus areas for this leadership role are safety, delivering the low cost manufacturing and shipping, inventory turns and on-time delivery of ELP products to meet customers delivery expectations.This position reports to the ELP Director of Supply Chain/Finance and is located in Federal Way, WA.Key Functions: A primary function of this role is to plan, lead and ensure execution of monthly ELP Technologies re-planning process to develop a 24 month supply plan for ELP products.For an effective re-planning process to occur, the successful candidate must have excellent strategic planning and strong relationship building skills in order to: establish a supply plan consistent with prescribed standards for meeting demand forecasts; optimizing performance of ELP manufacturing facilities to cost effectively meet committed and anticipated demand goals; accurately evaluate current supply capabilities relative to the supply plan and recommend production changes as required; coordinate the aggregation all ELP supply facilities and incorporate that information into the ELP overall supply plan and advise the Sales and Marketing teams of changes in supply that have a direct impact on Customers expectations. The candidate must also have a solid understanding of raw material supply and integrate the supply management systems with the Integrated Fiber Planning systems.The position requires extensive knowledge and experience in creating capacity models and using best practice processes. As part of ELP Supply Chain Lead Team, this position will also be responsible for identifying critical capacity metrics and relating those metrics to business transactions, to predict resource requirements. The Supply Manager owns the alignment of the Supply Plan with plant scheduling and available-to-promise processes. Individuals in this role must complete high impact analysis, simplify and present complex information with ease, and prepare and deliver clear well organized presentations.The Supply Manager is expected to take ownership of problems and/or issues and ensure timely resolution and proactively identify opportunities for improvement in system optimization. Work closely with other leaders to assess capacity implications and develop manufacturing and sourcing strategies based upon: performance measures; current supply plans for each product line; finished goods inventories; sales forecast; raw material availability as well as distribution and shipping capacities.About our Wood Products BusinessWe manufacture and sell an innovative collection of proven structural framing materials to the residential, multi-family and light commercial markets, and also provide seamless building solutions, from design to installation to support. Job Requirements

The following qualifications are required:
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in a manufacturing leadership role, including:
    • Executing business strategies
    • Capacity, Forecasting and Production plans
    • Knowledgeable in applying Theory of Constraints
    • Demand planning and Inventory analysis
    • Developing long-term strategic plans and near-term operating plans
    • Evaluating margin opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking / reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Able to respond quickly & adapt to changes in priorities driven by a dynamic marketplace
  • Superior facilitation & presentation skills to foster open communication and decision making
  • MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and ERP applications
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Bachelors Degree in an Engineering Discipline or Business strongly desired (MBA, a plus)
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, Lean, Strategic Planning, APICS or CIPM certifications
  • Hands on experience with SAP
  • Coordination of production plans with multi-plant dependencies & creating capacity models
  • Experience working closely with Marketing and Sales
  • Knowledge and experience with timber supply
