Job Summary:
The Business Intelligence Development Operations (BI DevOps) Manager plays a critical role in offering a reliable analytics capability to our internal and external stakeholders, managing the environments and day-to-day operations of the data warehouse and business intelligence platforms. The BI DevOps Manager has implementation and support life cycle experience with all components of these platforms as well as experience managing operations for a high volume data warehousing and business intelligence environment serving the analytical needs of a broad spectrum of users. The BI DevOps Manager works with other Business Intelligence management team peers, internal clients, project teams, IT Architecture teams, and senior management to run, maintain, and improve the reliability of the data warehouse and business intelligence platforms.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all production operations (including related documentation) and responsible for disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) planning in conjunction with IT and business leadership.
2. Maintain and evaluate performance metrics for business intelligence systems and services, including application & database performance monitoring and usage metrics. Make recommendations for improvements.
3. Provide oversight of production support for all BI and data warehouse related applications, including data load and report job monitoring and resolving incidents and support tickets
4. Manage the source code repository for the data warehouse and business intelligence development teams.
5. Deliver tools and processes for build management and automation, including continuous integration.
6. Manage and administer the configuration of the development, test and production environments for ETL, data warehouse and business intelligence, as well as test data in pre-production.
7. Coordinate with the Information Security Administration and the Architecture teams to manage user data access permissions and security within the data warehouse and BI applications.
8. Oversee planning and execution of solution deployments, including the Request for Change (RFC) process.
9. Monitor and report on data quality metrics as required by business and IT stakeholders
10. Lead the BI DevOps team to implement technology solutions and business processes that enable capabilities and reliability improvements that have been prioritized and committed to by Sr. Management, including project scoping, planning and execution.
11. Lead a team to deliver on short and long-term goals of the department. Integrate the organization’s mission and philosophy to provide meaning in work. Responsible for the interpretation, communication, and understanding of department and company goals, mission and philosophy to associates. Provide consistent performance feedback to team members and opportunities for advancement.
12. Develop technology strategies that align with the organization’s vision, mission and objectives. Anticipate change and implement an operational plan that is flexible.
13. Ensure delivery of high quality service, consultation, and product to customers through understanding of business needs and through the development of seamless transition of work processes across departments in the IT division. Develop and manage relationships throughout the organization to reinforce a culture of service and collaboration.
14. Working with department leaders, assign and shift financial and human capital resources as necessary to maintain operational excellence. Responsible for establishing and operating within department budget.
15. Manage multiple projects and partner with peers and senior management teams to shift priorities as needed. Identify risks to projects and deliverables across departments. Ensure resolution of issues within area of responsibility.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a normal office environment with ambient temperatures and involving occasional reaching, stretching, bending and moving about.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:1. Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
2. 3-5 years experience managing people or leading project teams, including proven experience providing effective coaching, feedback and development plans to associates.
3. 5-7 years proven track record of technical expertise in IT, to include strong technology implementation and at least three years in Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehousing.
4. Strong understanding and experience with all components of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse foundation, including database, ETL, job scheduling and monitoring, source code and build management, database and BI platform system administration, as well as best practices for design and development.
5. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
6. Must possess strong technical skills, balanced with a strong understanding of business objectives and processes.
7. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to understand shared goals and objectives. Ability to set short and long-term department goals that align with overall IT organizational direction.
8. Proven track record of delivering high quality products and services resulting in highly satisfied customers. Experience working with vendors to deliver on business needs.
9. Ability to effectively deal with rapid change in a positive manner and to lead staff through changing priorities.
10. Proven ability to build successful work teams and manage and retain high performing talent. Ability to mentor and foster a positive environment. Models leadership values.
11. Demonstrated ability to plan work for teams, manage workload balance and have proven track record of delivering results.
12. Proven ability to develop effective relationships and to work at all levels of the company including senior and executive management. Experience working effectively across divisional lines in a complex, multi-site organization.
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
1. Demonstrated experience with implementing and/or managing enterprise-scale data warehouses (e.g. IBM Netezza, Teradata) and BI platforms (e.g. IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, Microsrategy).
