Job Summary and Mission This position contributes to Starbucks success by upholding a culture where diversity is valued and respected. Delivering against our global diversity strategy focused on five areas: leadership accountability, optimizing diverse talent, connecting partners, communication and brand. Supports the Director in leading and managing global diversity initiatives and programs. Supports the Starbucks brand image and Starbucks status as an inclusive, equitable and accessible global company. Modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks Guiding Principle, diversity is integral to everything we do. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:- Leads the implementation of Company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.
- Identifies, develops and fosters relationships with industry thought leaders, consultants, vendors, and partners.
- Acts as an ambassador and advocate for diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Leads and develops diversity & inclusion programs and initiatives.
- Supports the development of long-term diversity strategies and plans in support of: leadership accountability, optimizing diverse talent, connecting partners, communication and enhancement and support of the companys brand.
- Leads or contributes to the strategic direction and framework for partner network groups.
- Researches, benchmarks, develops and delivers enterprise diversity strategies with business strategies.
- Establishes relationships and influence with executives on BUs/Functions; partner and consult on BU/Function diversity strategies.
- Implements global diversity internal communication strategy.
- Implements global diversity & inclusion external outreach strategy.
- Collaborates with relevant internal stakeholders relating to the company-wide integration of diversity programs/processes.
- Leads, implements and maintains tracking strategies to monitor and evaluate impact and ROI of programs; develop reports on program effectiveness and make recommendations for program enhancement and improvement.
- Manages Diversity communication/campaigns through appropriate mediums.
- Researches diversity best practices and benchmark diversity programs against leading companies.
- Prepares initial drafts of presentation materials for senior leadership.
- Negotiates contracts and manage vendor and consultant relationships.
- Manages multiple projects and processes to support and enhance organization effectiveness.
- Participates in the development of and facilitates the implementation of change management initiatives.
Job Requirements
Summary of Experience- Managing diversity programs and deployment for large, global consumer-facing companies (7 years)
- Progressive experience in representing a company with a wide variety of global constituencies (5 years)
- Progressive applicable experience with complex organizations with people of diverse functional and cultural backgrounds (5 years)
- Experience in managing multiple complex projects individually and through cross-functional or virtual teams (5 years)
- Conduct needs analysis (5 years)
- Experience in international civic, public and governmental issues or public speaking and media relations (3 years)
- Managing and coordinating external firms, consultants (3 years)
- Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
- Knowledge of diversity and inclusion practices in large scale corporate environments.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills. Able to consider complex problems and identify potential solutions through reasoned analysis and modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategy, implement plans and work as effective change agent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills; able to effectively communicate with senior level business leaders.
- Consultation, partnering and influencing/consultation skills.
- Proven ability to build successful and effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization; promote ideas persuasively and shape opinion, win buy-in for initiatives and work through conflicts, in order to ensure operational alignment and high impact execution.
- Sound judgment, high integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proven track record of success leading and completing cross-functional enterprise initiatives.
- Demonstrated self-awareness and emotional maturity.

- Ability to positively assess and advise on the diversity-related aspects of the integration of new cultures into Starbucks culture as part of the merger and acquisition process.
