Mechanical Engineer, Senior at Walla Walla

POSITION OVERVIEW
Key Technology is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with 5 or more years experience in capital equipment design to be a part of our Integrated Solutions Engineering team. Located at their Walla Walla WA headquarters, the Engineer will lead customer-facing design projects. This role is a stepping stone to a Project Manager role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs, specifies and tests major systems, subsystems and components of automated inspection systems and/or process and conveying systems.
- Plans, directs, coordinates and at times performs activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical components and subsystems.
- Specific job duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Design of major system, system components, and subsystems from initial conception to production.
- Works directly with customers to develop design solutions for sold orders.
- Utilize engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, NASTRAN, etc. in design process.
- Develop and implement functional and reliability test of designs.
- Solve problems related to design, manufacture, function and reliability of equipment.
- Gather data from field, manufacturing, QA, or other sources in determining cause of problem.
- Use structured problem solving techniques to find solutions to problems.
- Work with manufacturing group to develop process for the manufacture of components and subsystems.
- Work directly with suppliers on specifications, development and application of purchased parts.
- Works with QA and manufacturing to ensure parts conform to specifications.
- Develop quality plans for parts and subsystems.
- Travels to customers sites to assist/advise in the installation or repair of equipment.
- Works directly with customers to solve performance and reliability related problems with equipment.
- Manages people, manages projects and lead teams.

BASE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a similar technical field
- At least 3 years of mechanical engineering experience
- At least 2 years of drafting experience
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
