As an IT Branch Technician you will be responsible for assisting with the on the ground implementation of all IT infrastructure required to open new offices and Customer Call Centers as part of the expansion of Booking.com. Key Responsibilities:
- On the ground resource for racking, stacking and physical patching of routers and switches (according to diagrams created by you);
- Gather local internet based connectivity information from local ISPs in new locations and make sure available options are sanity checked by the Network Engineering Department;
- Create deployment documentation including Rack Layouts and Wireless RF Plans
- Check and upgrade devices and install licenses on switches/routers in central office prior to shipment to site;
- Test internet services provided by local providers (layer 3 type i.e. SDSL/ADSL);
- Confirm all equipment arrives on site as planned;
- Hand over connected devices to Network Engineers and troubleshoot connectivity issues where required;
- Provide support for server OS installs and desktop imaging;
- Install, configure and hand over PDUs to the network engineering team;
- Create technical kit lists (to include components and hardware);
- Test UPS installations together with IT support team;
- Test physical failure scenarios onsite together with network team;
- Ensure consistent cable management from switch to patch panel;
- Provide Pre and Post Deployment plans to the Branch Technician Team Leader.
Required Technical Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in the field deploying new infrastructure in office environments;
- Thorough understanding of different types of network and power cabling;
- Thorough understanding of power considerations, including capacity advantageous;
- Ability to configure PDUs and UPSs;
- Thorough understanding of the way in which ISP providers deliver leased lines and other connectivity;
- Hands-on experience in the installation and deployment of networking and IT equipment to sites;
- Thorough understanding of different network appliances, and protocols;
- Experience in dealing with ISPs;
- Experience in configuring Juniper SRX240/EX4500, Cisco 2921 devices would be preferred;
- Experience in deploying, configuring and troubleshooting Aruba Wireless Routers and Access Points would be preferred.
