Senior Manager, Datacenter Support and Logistics
Job Description
Be a part of operating the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure. Amazon Web Services is seeking an experienced professional to run our worldwide Datacenter Support and Logistics team. As the leader of this team, you will make sure we always have the right equipment, in the right place, at the right time. You will also continually lower costs by improving efficiency and eradicating waste.
Responsibilities
* Manage regional and local logistics managers in our worldwide datacenter facilities. Implement standardized, measurable processes for receiving, storing, transporting, and fulfilling equipment.
* Develop global strategies for supporting datacenter equipment throughout its lifecycle. Ensure sufficient supply of spare parts to quickly resolve critical issues as well as perform routine datacenter operations. Use data and deep analysis to build cost-optimized strategies for equipment support, inventory management, and end-of-life transitions.
* Work with Datacenter Operations, Datacenter Engineering, and Networking to ensure maximum uptime of our facilities and equipment.
* Work with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Hardware Engineering to build a comprehensive parts sourcing strategy.
* Work with our Legal team to negotiate and maintain warranty and support agreements. Maintain ongoing vendor relationships as required for equipment support.
* Work with Transportation, Import/Export, and Tax to enable simple transfer of assets between facilities.
* Maintain metrics dashboards and report to senior management on a regular basis.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to Operational Excellence. They will know how to work with technicians, engineers, analysts, and software development teams to build continuous improvement through standardization, simplification, measurement, and automation.
Basic Qualifications
* A completed Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or 2+ years Amazon experience
* 12+ years relevant experience
* Experience in large-scale logistics and warehouse operations
* Experience managing direct reports
* Experience in Project Management
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's Degree
* Experience with Lean / Six-Sigma
* Examples of continuous improvement and waste elimination
* Experience running large, distributed teams.
* Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment
* Ability to interpret financial data and apply it to decision making
* Exceptional and effective verbal and written communication skills
* Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
* Exceptional influencing skills and negotiation skills
