GIS Supervisor

Provides daily supervision and oversight of the GIS staff. Serve as a technical expert and provide leadership and direction to all Company users of the Geographic Information System. Responsible for system development, analysis, reporting, and maintenance to achieve efficient use and output of the GIS system. Responsible for preparation of mechanical designs and drawings for field applications, maintenance of distribution system plant, right-of-way, land records, and documentation. Participates on the MDU Utilities Group GIS standards and product development teams.  RequirementsMinimum Qualifications: Must possess a four-year degree in geographic information systems (GIS), CAD design, geography, or have equivalent experience at a level normally acquired through a working knowledge of GIS, CAD, geographic analysis, drafting, and design principles and practices plus five years of GIS experience. Must have demonstrated experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS applications. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer prior utility experience with GIS, CAD, or mapping department. Previous supervisory experience is a plus. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of GPS technology, data collection, and integration with GIS software. Database design and maintenance experience (Oracle preferred).

* Position requires travel mostly within the service territory.
* Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
