Position Description

Position Title: Manager Maintenance & Engineering

Reports to: Mill Manager

Position Summary

The Manager Maintenance & Engineering is responsible for ensuring efficient maintenance and reliability systems are in place throughout the facility. Also, will oversee all engineering activities. Reporting to the Mill Manager, the direct reports to this position include: Maintenance Manager, Process Control Engineer, two Area Maintenance Engineers, an Electrical Engineer and mill admin assistant.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide appropriate safety leadership and ensure all safety and environmental processes/programs are consistently followed.

Manage the capital project process in the mill. Ensure 5 year capital plan in place and adapted as necessary to support business.

Work closely with operating leadership identify opportunities to improve mill performance and scope out necessary capital or maintenance to take advantage of those opportunities

Analyze equipment and machinery and make changes/recommendations to lower costs and improve operating performance

Provide technical support/assistance to maintenance and operating areas as needed

Provide direction to maintenance manager to ensure appropriate maintenance systems and processes are in place

Work with maintenance manager to ensure appropriate key performance indicators are in place and improvement plans are in place to improve deficiencies.

Work with maintenance manager to oversee all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance outages and continually suggest and implement process improvements

Work with maintenance manager to prepare maintenance budget including 5 year major maintenance plan

Participate as an active member of the Mill Leadership Team

Analyze equipment and machinery and make changes/recommendations to lower costs and improve operating performance

Coach and develop future talent

Understand and communicate business strategy, goals and initiatives to team members

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Engineering, a Masters degree is a plus

7-10 years experience with the majority in a key maintenance/engineering leadership role in pulp/paper mill operation

Experience leading a team of engineering professionals

High purity cellulose experience a plus

Proven record of leading successful maintenance organizations and teams

Extensive experience managing outages, shut-downs and start-ups

Position Title: Manager Maintenance & Engineering

Reports to: Mill Manager

Position Summary

The Manager Maintenance & Engineering is responsible for ensuring efficient maintenance and reliability systems are in place throughout the facility. Also, will oversee all engineering activities. Reporting to the Mill Manager, the direct reports to this position include: Maintenance Manager, Process Control Engineer, two Area Maintenance Engineers, an Electrical Engineer and mill admin assistant.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide appropriate safety leadership and ensure all safety and environmental processes/programs are consistently followed.

Manage the capital project process in the mill. Ensure 5 year capital plan in place and adapted as necessary to support business.

Work closely with operating leadership identify opportunities to improve mill performance and scope out necessary capital or maintenance to take advantage of those opportunities

Analyze equipment and machinery and make changes/recommendations to lower costs and improve operating performance

Provide technical support/assistance to maintenance and operating areas as needed

Provide direction to maintenance manager to ensure appropriate maintenance systems and processes are in place

Work with maintenance manager to ensure appropriate key performance indicators are in place and improvement plans are in place to improve deficiencies.

Work with maintenance manager to oversee all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance outages and continually suggest and implement process improvements

Work with maintenance manager to prepare maintenance budget including 5 year major maintenance plan

Participate as an active member of the Mill Leadership Team

Analyze equipment and machinery and make changes/recommendations to lower costs and improve operating performance

Coach and develop future talent

Understand and communicate business strategy, goals and initiatives to team members

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Engineering, a Masters degree is a plus

7-10 years experience with the majority in a key maintenance/engineering leadership role in pulp/paper mill operation

Experience leading a team of engineering professionals

High purity cellulose experience a plus

Proven record of leading successful maintenance organizations and teams

Extensive experience managing outages, shut-downs and start-ups
