Senior analytics consultant, Assessments & Analytics - Seattle, WA at Seattle

Job Description

Job Summary and Mission This job contributes to Starbucks success by designing workforce and financial metrics, scorecards, and organization success measures, and running analytics to test organizational hypotheses and identify key drivers of business outcomes. This position works collaboratively with a team of analytics consultants and business reporting analysts, responsible to a client group(s) for providing ongoing consultation around how to effectively analyze and leverage data to inform key decisions and track business and workforce trends. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Develops workforce scorecards and conducts monthly/quarterly business reviews to help clients assess the health of their function/business and stay on top of key trends.
  • Independently conducts analyses to determine metrics that have the largest impact on the business, identify optimal targets, evaluate the effectiveness of HR investments and priorities, and determine strengths and opportunities within client organization.
  • Provides thought leadership and custom quantitative analytics on program evaluation and change initiatives, developing research designs and quantifiably evaluating program/project success.
  • Initiates and leads strategic research projects; responsible for creating hypotheses, develop research design and analytics plans, running standard to advanced (e.g., modeling) analytics, and providing predictive decision metrics to leaders.
  • Independently manages all phases of complex research/analytics projects, and delivers presentations to executive-level clients.
  • Responds to ad hoc analytics requests from clients by asking key questions to accurately assess the problem, influencing clients to focus on the right data/metrics, running analyses, and delivering results and providing insights to client.
  • Creates and delivers results in formats ranging from standard reporting to executive-level presentations by synthesizing technical information in a way that is easy to follow and clearly demonstrates how the results inform the business.
  • Coaches clients on how to appropriately interpret and use analyses/metrics to make strategic decisions and further inform the business.
  • Job Requirements

    Summary of Experience

    • 5 years of experience in a consulting or corporate environment running standard to advanced analyses (e.g., trends/forecasting, key driver analysis, different types of regression, ANOVA, linkage research). Knowledge/demonstrated ability to conduct all types of multivariate analyses (e.g., hierarchical linear modeling, path analysis, SEM and cluster analysis, etc.).
    • 4-5 years of experience consulting with senior leaders to define problem, determine appropriate data and analytics to address the problem, and present results.
    • 4-5 years of experience in a consulting or corporate environment developing and implementing metrics/scorecards.
    • 2-3 years of experience in a consulting or corporate environment running ROI analyses using financial metrics (e.g., sales, profit growth, revenue, and EPS).
    Required Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

    • M.A./Ph.D. in a quantitative/statistical program (e.g., Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Behavioral Economics); may substitute with commensurate work experience, demonstrated aptitude for data/analytics, and ability to quickly learn and apply advanced statistics
    • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and research design methodology required including trends/forecasting, key driver analysis, different types of regression, ANOVA, linkage research. Knowledge/demonstrated ability to conduct all types of multivariate analyses (e.g., hierarchical linear modeling, path analysis, SEM and cluster analysis, etc.).
    • SPSS knowledge and experience required. Experience writing SPSS syntax a plus.
    • Ability to function independently in business or organizational environments, effectively delivering consulting services and presentations and influencing senior leaders
    • Strong project management, decision-making, detail orientation, problem solving, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
    • Financial data understanding / business acumen (e.g., P+L) required
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
